Laser Hair Reduction.
PRE TREATMENT
Pre-shave:
- shave the area to be treated ONE day before your treatment.
- 3 blade, new razor (NOT CLIPPERS).
- shave with aloe vera or perfume-free / hyper sensitive / hypo-allergenic substance.
- take your time, light the room well.
- if you make any cuts contact CleanSlate Clinic as we may not be able to do treatment over open wound.
- if you would like to keep hair patch i.e. for Brazilian / Bikini please shave around this area to indicate the area you want to keep on.
PLEASE NOTE CleanSlate Clinic does not offer shape sculpting as it’s impossible to attain the level of accuracy which may be desired.
POSTCARE
After your treatment, you can occasionally expect pinkness or a mild “sunburn like” effect in the area, however even this is rare and usually passes quickly. It isn’t real sunburn, only heat permeating back out through the skin.
ABSOLUTELY NO WAXING OR PLUCKING FROM NOW ON! - COMMON MISTAKE NO1!
You can shave in intervals between treatments if necessary but please wait at least 48 hours after treatment.
TATTOO / PERMANENT MAKE-UP / PLASTIC SURGERY / AFTER TREATMENT
If you are planning to tattoo / permanent make-up or put implants in / on an area after hair removal, PLEASE wait at least 12-18 months. Assuming that all of your hair will be gone after the minimum amount of treatments is incorrect.
Your body doesn’t respond to any kind of medical or paramedical treatment with that degree of certainty.
HOW REGULARLY SHOULD YOU COME FOR TREATMENTS?
Do not stop coming when your hair stops growing.
Jumping a treatment is like throwing money away. Common mistake no.2.
You will need a minimum of 6-8 treatments spaced one month apart (28-35 days to be exact). Facial hair can be treated at more regular intervals as it grows much faster than hair on the rest of the body.
This treatment window can be discussed at your consultation.
It is important that you keep to your treatment course schedule as closely as possible for two reasons:
Most people have a 6 month hair growth cycle. 6 treatments in 6 months capture the greatest amount of hairs as they pass through the vital early-anagen phase of hair growth.
Regular appointments help your therapist measure the efficacy of the last and earlier treatments, so they can determine the best energy/filter settings for the next treatment.
After 4 treatments we will access the hair and decide if we continue on for more monthly treatments to reduce the hair more. Or if we are satisfied, you will schedule in for your next top up appointment in 2-3 months time to re-assess and plan your maintenance.
In real terms, you could expect as a minimum result, a vast reduction in visible dark hairs. This may present or appear to present as absolute hair removal from the treated area, we are not allowed by law to make such claims as permanent hair reduction.
The end result depends on your suitability to treatment, how many treatments you opt to have, and how regularly you space your treatments.
This is also including your age, hormonal activity in your body, ancestry, medications or medical conditions. Essentially there are two types of hair that grow on the body (not counting the scalp). These are body hair which is generally thinner and softer, and pubic hair which is more coarse. Body hair usually responds faster to treatment than pubic hair.
Lower legs, arms, lower backs, and bums are generally body hair. Genitalia, faces, chests and stomachs, and inner thighs are generally pubic hair. Underarms, upper backs and shoulders, upper legs, and bum creases can be a mix of the two.
At around the 6-8 treatment mark, approx 80-90% of people walk away happy with the result, while others elect to have more treatments. Facial hair on men is the most resilient, and can take more.
TOPUP TREATMENTS
Some hair can lay dormant for long periods or emerge for the first time as you arrive at a certain stage of life.
Each treatment removes 10-15% of the hair. Hence why you MUST COME BACK EACH MONTH.
We can only kill hair bulbs that are actively sprouting. For that reason, you will find that top up treatments from time to time are beneficial.
CLINICAL END POINTS
There may be a number reasons reduction isn’t as prominent on a certain area which will be explained to you at your 1st consultation at CleanSlate Clinic ( including Polycystic Ovary Syndrome / PCOS, in which case we can opt for a ‘maintenance’ approach.)
While some clients see a noticeable difference after their first treatment we would suggest that you’ll see real results around your third treatment. We start on a lower setting and increase this as you progress through your course to ensure your skin doesn’t react aggressively and that the experience is comfortable for you while still being effective, this may mean you results are slower to start with but with improve dramatically until you have noticeable hair reduction. It is also worth remembering that some hair is thicker and has deeper roots so will take longer for noticeable results, this is perfectly normal and why we have a FAST, EFFICIENT, VIRTUALLY PAIN-FREE machine using the LATEST TECHNOLOGY that will treat most areas and TANNED SKIN.
If we get to 6-8 treatments (depending on the area) and are not seeing a reduction of 80-90% of hair we will discuss next steps.
Laser Tattoo Removal.
PRE TREATMENT
If you are on holiday in Bali we suggest you come in on your last days if possible. This will give you your best chance of healing and of course making the most of your holiday.
CleanSlate can not treat you if you have had the sun-tanning vitamin A injections within the last 6 months, or if you have had recent large amounts of sun exposure.
We cannot treat you if you are Pregnant, Breastfeeding, prone to Keloid Scarring, Intoxicated, High, or under Strong Medications. This will be verbally discussed with you as well as being outlined in our consent form prior to any Laser Treatment.
NUMBING CREAM
Have a shower prior to your Laser Removal Treatment. Shave any area that has hair where the treatment is to take place.
If your using Numbing Cream, please ensure you apply this properly and follow the instructions of the chosen numbing agent. You may arrive with numbing cream on but this will be removed prior to the treatment.
POSTCARE
The skin is already scarred from the needle penetrations of where the tattoo was applied and lies just under the epidermis.
We repeat that risk of scarring and infection, skin texture changes and unknown outcomes are associated with Laser Tattoo Removal Procedures. We do not guarantee full removal of ink, or the pace at which your immune cells will create a fading of the area.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
- Keep dry and sterile
-Best to not go swimming for 2 days
- Do not overheat and sweat
- Do not ignore keeping area sterile
- Do no use sweaty dirty bandages and coverings,
- Minimal sun exposure on the area for the first few days
- Do no use home-made remedy’s.
AFTER YOU ARE TREATED
You will depart in a dressed, sterile state with the area fully covered with a dressing placed over the treatment site, and with this sheet which we will read out aloud to you and give to you. Leave dressing in place for up to 2 hours.
BE SAFE
Swollen, excessive redness, oozing puss and any other indications that say to you, “this doesn’t look like a normal healing” – You must go straight to a Doctor. Only a Medical Practitioner is able to give a diagnosis and prescription, after informing you of what exactly what is happening. you have blisters and your skin presents with areas that are still a bit weeping, you should change daily until a well-formed scab has formed. Always use a very loose piece of gauze so that the skin can breathe. Keep area sterile- Visit your Doctor immediately if you notice abnormal appearance on the area.
When You Visit Your Doctor
Please remember you have had test patches at every treatment so that only a safe laser treatment may occur. We keep strict records of every event, and clinical endpoints of every visit.
Do Not Keep Covered
For prolonged periods, if it’s not required. Never use plastic waterproof coverings, you need to assist the area to dry out and not get soggy
1. Keep area cool. Do not get the area injured or overheated and no tanning on area please.
2. Don’t pick the blisters ever! Don’t pick at your scabs, you will scar.
3. Don’t soak the area for ages in a long hot shower or bath, the area will go mushy and get infected.
4. Never allow hazardous or dangerous fluids or substances on the area.
5. Best to not go swimming and limit sun exposure until your scab has formed, then you must wear spf 50+ plus completely protect the treated area with a covering. It is preferred you never soak a treated tattoo.
6. Don’t wear tight sleeved shirts or garments that will cause chaffing, and irritation.
Showering is OK, but don’t soak the area. Use gloves, pat dry with clean dry sterile towelette.
· After shower, you have the option also to drizzle with Saline or bottled water. Allow the area to Dry out.
· Apply antiseptic powder, Nebacetin Powder or Medipulv Antiseptic powder and place a STERILE gauze swab loosely on area until there is a healthy scab.
· Once you have a healthy scab, don’t allow it to get injured and moisturize it regularly through the day. (Bepanthen moisturizer is a suggestion, Viatamin A, D ointment). You may not use non-industry standard topical skin products.
This sounds like a lot to digest but in reality if you keep your tattoo as DRY AND STERILE AS POSSIBLE until your scabs form, it will heal well for multiple treatments.
